Hi guys,

Just a quick question in regards to maintenance/repair of MPC's in the UK, and really if anyone knows somewhere/someone that is able to do this in the UK.

Basically have the problem that many have spoken about in regards to the tact switches, and them needing to really be pressed hard for them to function. I read about this being to do with the solder between the plastic switch and the button itself. I am utterly useless at anything like that and am confident i would probably make things a lot worse than better :(

Contacted AKAI in regards to this, but they are asking £50-£70 just to receive the unit (this is minus the shipping costs i will have to pay), before they even diagnose the problem and tell me how much this may cost to repair...

So anyone have any advice on where i may be able to get this sorted in the UK? If anyone has repaired this issue themselves, any sort of clear guide on 'how to'?

Thanks guys :)

as you already know, this topic has been covered multiple times on the forum... and in every single thread the easiest option which actually works is using DeOxit on the tact switches... do a search here for "deoxit" and that should solve your issues without having to go to a repairman.

Deoxit wont fix a dead tact switch or a cold solder joint etc.

Some people are not inclined to open hardware to fix anything.

Sent details of a UK repairer (Jazzcat) to the OP in case he needs it.
