While this is not confirmed by NI, there has been a (supposed) leak from one of the developers that they will release a new Maschine hardware controller within the next 6 months.

I'm pretty happy w/ the current design so I'm not quite sure how they could build upon it besides adding a sound card, maybe some faders and/or a ribbon controller like they just added to X1 mkII.

One thing that would be smart of them to do to compete with Ableton's Push is come out with some sort of bundle w/ Komplete that would look a little more attractive to buyers than just crossgrade pricing. Since buying Komplete it's pretty much all I use with Maschine, it's a the perfect combo imo.

What would you guys like to see ?

If you look at the cost of LIVE + Suite + PUSH or even LIVE + PUSH compared to Maschine + Komplete it looks more like Ableton needs better pricing not NI.

Explicit- wrote:I have the original Maschine so I am really anticipating this new version.

Yet theres not much I think the contoller is missing besides for sure it being angled.
Id have to give it some thoughts...

It's just a bad rumor for now no need to get excited.
If you read the thread where the guy mentioned it on the Maschine Forum there was no form of credibility to his post.

Where's the thread? I'm on the fence on buying a Maschine, but I don't have any urgency now. I'm also considering the F1 Traktor Kontrol and might do that instead for now.

Thats interesting. I assume they are going to come for the Ren. Especially since a lot of folks thought at one point that MKII would have a soundcard. Let the games begin.

Standalone is incredibly unlikely I think. But once Maschine started selling well the flip screen, jog wheel and MPC style cursor requests started to be all over the NI forums.

So to me even if this rumor is based on nothing, it's still inevitable at some point.

My gut tells me that the MK II unit was mainly to spice up the deal for later adopters and of course to generate more cash to under write the 3rd version of the hardware.

As was mentioned NI is big on sales, cross grades and discounts so I'd expect some decent inducements to get long time owners to upgrade and appeal to some of the potential Ren and Push customers.

I also hope they avoid an in built interface, if anything that is strike against the Ren (personally) as I just don't need or want a mid spec interface in a unit that doesn't work standalone anyway. Although I can see how some do like it.

The real reason for the mkII controller:

-some of the Maschine units had USB connectors that were flimsy and would break
They gave it the improved locking connector.
-to add the multicolor pads to go along with them allowing control of the Remix Decks in Traktor

This was why it didn't affect the functionality of the mkI controller.
