Hey guys,

BeatCleaver 1.4 is finally out, and it's the biggest update yet!

Image

The main new feature in 1.4 is a state-of-the-art audio editing engine that enables you to apply edits and effects and adjust them on-the-fly. I'm excited that we have this new editing engine in there now because it's going to unlock a lot of cool possibilities for the future.

Some of the other new features that you've all been asking for:
- Automatic tempo (BPM) detection
- Pitch and time-stretching controls in the main window :smoker:
- Slice-to-MIDI functionality :-D
- With edit mode, you can now move your slices around and make your funky breaks even funkier.

A full list of changes is up on the blog!

Curious what the editing mode looks like? Watch this carefully and you'll see the waveform being changed on the fly as fades are moved around and adjusted:

If you've already bought BeatCleaver, hit up the download link in your registration email again to snag the new version, or can grab it from the bottom of my downloads page.

The free trial has been updated too, if you're new to BeatCleaver and want to check it out!

Thanks for all your support during the development of this update, guy! If you have more feedback or suggestions for the next version, please let me know! :)

Looks like you are on some God-Tier stuff with BeatClever!!!

Looks really, I mean, REALLY good. I'm surprised some of the big boys haven't tried to snatch you up for their dev team. Because they really need the help, you are slaying those guys.

You sir, have earned my business!

All I can ask for now is export to .akp and I can retire 3 pieces of software. (Awave, Recycle, and Cool Edit Pro aka Auditon for the cool kidz)

Yessir! Seriously lovin this and have been turning a bunch people on to it. Everyone seems to love it. :-D

So, now, I really only have a couple small suggestions to make this thing prefect!

1. I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication or if this is really what sbtst6 and some other dudes wanted, but, I was expecting a TUNE control on the main window. I think the tempo and pitch is awesome, too, and would love for those to stay but maybe just right next to those have a tune adjustment, too. Sometimes (esp. for samples) it's nice to be able to tune up and down like in an mpc. (ya know, tuning up increases the tempo and vice versa.) I pretty much do this like 90% of time so I have to export slices and load them into a vst sampler to hear what it sounds like TUNED up and down. Which isn't really a huge deal but if it's not to hard to implement, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to be able to tune on the fly. I mean, this is a mpc forum right? :-D :-D

2. Love the trim to selection. By faaaaar gonna be the most used edit function for me. Would anyone else want either a shortcut key (or is there?) or a trim button on the main screen? If not, no big deal.

3. I really feel like there should be a chop to 3, 6, 9, & 12 slices. Definitely does not need to be on the main screen imo as its probably less common for most, but, should be options in the 'slice into' menu though.

Seriously though, EVERYTHING else is **** great! I really didn't wanna be an **** critique it right after you released, but, just figured i'd share my thoughts while they're fresh!

Thanks again, man, you're killin' it!!!

Thanks guys! Criticism is always welcome, no hard feelings. ;)

Ok, don't let me release a new update without adding tune/rate controls to that toolbar. Should be totally doable, and very handy. :)

Yeah, in general it would probably be good for there to be buttons for each of the edit actions. I'm trying to avoid clutter but maybe there could be a little toolbar that appears when you go into Edit Mode. I'll put some thought into this...

I'll see about adding more chopping options in the menu too. :)

Thanks again!

Hey Albert,

I'm running the trial version right now and was curious about one bit:

After I chop/stretch/pitch my sample in your program... can I export the affected sample (with it's chops) as a .PGM file and throw it straight into my MPC?

I'm 100% sure that is what your program is all about but, I've never been able to try it myself. Looking at buying this thing instantly if so!

Holler.

(and thanks! )
