Question about memory upgrades.

Hello,

I just recently bought MPC 4000 from UK.

The unit does not have memory upgrades, so it has only 16MB of ram to begin with.

I searched on ebay and there seems to be good amount of different guys selling the memory upgrades.

Do those work fine? Also, If I buy 256MB 133 RAM memory here from Finland will it work fine? Does it have to be AKAI related somehow or will any PC memory work fine?

Any PC memory with the right specs should work fine. I haven't heard of the MPC4000 being particularly picky but make sure the seller recommends it for your purpose (as in the link you posted)
The price in that link is very good but make sure you can return it if it doesn't work for you.

did you try searching this forum first? lots of info on this subject.

The generally accepted advice is that Kingston ram works best with the 4K. You just have to make sure that you get double sided ram. I bought 512MB and only 256MB was accessible due to it only being single sided. I soon got it swapped so it was maxed out.

It's pointless not maxing the 4K out when it only costs £10.

Another question:

Does the MPC 4000 have 272 mb or 16mb out the box?
