Focusrite ISA One (Can it be used as a regular pre-amp???)

I know it's purpose is for vocal's but I am wondering, is it possible to chain it to my Behringer Mixer and use the Focusrite to clean up samples I run from the TT?

if you mean use it as an actual PHONO PREAMP... then no... only a phono preamp can function as that... but if you just want to run any signal through it to possibly add some warmth or see how it sounds... then yeah... you can do that since it does have a line input as well.

I was wondering if it would give the vinyl I sampled clearer and crisper sounds especially drum breaks, but thank you. I think I understand what you're saying, never had a piece of equipment like that before.

I used to use a UA Solo 610 to warm up mono samples from my decks before hitting the MPC. I was running a line out from my DJ mixer to the preamp.


Tech12--->vestax--->solo 610--->mpc

Stereo--->stereo--->mono---->mono


You will have to A/B both channels to find the best quality mono sample...can be very time consuming, but also very rewarding. Much easier with an interface with multiple I/O, as you can bounce mono stems through the preamp and A/B in a DAW.


Possible, but not the best way....also, preamps will "colour" not clean-up your sounds. Lamp nailed it, though. Best bet is a DAW/Interface and some decent onboard/plug in EQ/effects.
