Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
Bybaconshoe Wed Dec 01, 2004 6:44 pm
Well, this is the third time I am going to have to replace my MPC 2000 screen. It works fine for about 8 months and then the pixels just slowly start going out until I can't read anything I am doing on the screen anymore. The screens cost about 150 dollars and I am kinda getting sick of buying them. Anybody got any ideas? I sure don't.

Maybe there is too much voltage going into the screen causing it to die out quickly. A short in the powering of the screen maybe, some screws that are not put back in their proper places when you open/close the mpc can cause shorts.

I had a friends 2k he had opened up and put back together cause he was looking at the motherboard to see if he could connect an internal atapi zip (even after I told him he coudln't). He put it back together and when he turned it on it would sound off a small click in the floppy drive, light up for maybe 2 seconds and all lights would go off and the click would remain as long as he had it on. Neither one of us cold figure out what was wrong. I took it to the same shop I used to take my asr10 to for repair and they charged $112 for the repair. They said it was due to 2 little screws no placed back in the correct spots on the motherboard. It still worked though so at least he didn't kill his 2k doing that. Hard, expensive lesson to learn.

which screws are you talking about exactly? could anyon post a pic? I mean, where are they on the board? does this also affect the XL?

I didn't take any pics of my boys 2k, I'm sure there are screws
somewhere in the XL also where this same thing can happen, just map out
every screw you unscrew and you should be fine afterwards when you
finally return each screw to it's respective place.

I got my screen today. I installed. There is no need to remove the motherboard for those of you who think you do. I even left the protective film on my screen. It is 11:38pm and I am banging away right now!!!!!!

how much was the part ? and how much to service it? Thanks and there are other places to get it serviced, but I am strapped for cash and trying to come up with the cheapest one that I do not have to send my MPC away for.

is located in Florida. 3 day shipping (insured) and the part # EM-812326J $149.00 + 10.00 shipping. BRAND NEW!

It is so easy to put in. Look at the last page of your manual and you can follow the instructions on taking the cover off. The screen is right there when you take your cover off! No need to remove n-e more screws besides the 2 that are holding the screen in place (MPC 2k not XL).

Very easy. 5mins...well it took me a min to line the case back up over the buttons (hahahaah)..

just get it!

813-232-3907 Tampa Florida.... EPR electronics..

cheapest part and fast shipping!
