Personally I would tend not to leave joints on for durations like that. But like I posted earlier, I've heard of exactly 2 2500 LCD's getting lined and it was one single in both cases. (Again one of these LCD's in cardboard box here in my crib).

So clearly these more modern LCD's can take it. As I mentioned we know exactly why the Classic/XL ones would die from the days of being turned on. It was that particular LCD and the way the heat gravitates to the area underneath the LCD that cradles the hinged part and the bottom/connections in the interior.

Why would anyone want to leave a product with an LCD on just to see how long the LCD would last? That is exactly what you are doing when you leave it on for weeks without turning it off.

Edit - In Namm 2012, Flux and Saint Joe interviewed Dan Gill discussing the Ren/Studio's LCDs. Dan said the Ren/Studio LCD is from the same vendor that does the LCDs of the MPKs. He noted that the MPKs LCD failure rate is less than 1%. With that said..I recommend all Ren/Studio users to turn off their MPCs when not in use....unless the light show is being used to impress your girlfriend (or boyfriend).

The MPD ones are the same as the MPK ones. I've had my MPD for years. It used to stay on a lot, I would just forget to unplug the USB. But it's still going strong. Now I have it on 5 pin DIN MIDI cables (they pads work better that way even after fat pad mods, the joint draws to much USB bus power I figured out after a while). And I just unplug the DC pack.

But yeah again I agree with Jerome ( ). Why not just hit save and do the planet, your wallet and the unit a favor and shut it off ? Even if as this thread has brought out most of the modern LCD's can take it. Why waste the AC and use up those hours of life even if the life span is mad long?

cuz I can sometime I wanna sit down for few minutes and dont wanna re-load everything. what the big deal...cost of leaving mpc on is less than recharge on jahs ass vibrator.

I'm just saying on for like a week seems crazy. But to each as own. I have two XL's so LCD ish always spooks me regardless. I got 16 lines gone on the one.

Well sometimes I need the Ren on for a few hours, problem is I only need the audio interface and the usb hub when I'm not making beats, and the screen is so bright is just gives me a headache, even if I tilt it back. I'm not even making a beat and it's annoying, painful to my eyes and brain, and probably wasting away the life of my lcd screen. Feel me? Hope that in the future they add an on/off function or ability to lower brightness.

No choice but to throw a micro fiber cloth over it I guess. I feel you on how a bright colored LCD can be distracting when not using the unit, the MPD screen is like that and it's way smaller.

Try shift then anticlockwise on your dial to turn down contrast until all the writing disappears. LCD stays on but maybe this will reduce chance of burn in. Dial it up when you want to work on mp again.
