being a uk 4000 owner, where they jip you and don't include a cd-r drive, i want to buy a drive and preferably install it myself to save some cash. had a look on the web and found nothing of any real use, but i'm feeling lazy and impatient! does anyone know of a good site for showing how to install a cd-r as i really don't wanna wreck my baby!

Does the 4k have an IDE connection on the motherboard (I've never seen the MBD)?
If so you can buy a standard CD-R drive from any PC shop and install it.
When you buy it it should come with the ribbon cables to connect it also.

Ground yourself via wrist strap and/or tap on some bare metal before you open it up though. I would think it's as easy as putting an internal IDE zip in the 2kxl.

The instructions for installing drives is in the reference manual. Teac and Plextor CD-R/RW drives work. The MPC uses IDE.
