The curious case of the missing samples.

Ola.
So I recently bought an MPC2500. Stoked.
Read the manual back to front. Getting fairly comfortable using the little fella.

Here is where my problem arises.

I started out just using the preloaded samples that came with it when I bought it.
(I bought it second hand, so I presume some samples had been loaded on but that is irrelevant anywho)
After I got comfortable making some basic tunes using the preloads, (is that a term?), I decided I would record in some samples off some wax I used when making beats in the past (I used to produce with Logic)
I can get to the recording page. I can record the desired sample, and I can rename it to whatever I feel. However when I click KEEP and it takes me back to the record window I kind of get a little lost.

So logically, I go back to the main screen, suss out if my samples hiding around there. No luck. I hit up load and go through everything. Nothing.

Please masters, teach me how to find my samples!

PS, I am still on the Akai OS. Not comfortable (lets face it...knowledgable) enough to be able to load JJOS yet. Haha.

I've been continuing to try and face this alone, and work it out but I just can't.

>Mode - Record
>Set Threshold/Time (Monitor ON, Input ANALOG, Mode STEREO)
>Press F6 (RECORD)
>'Recording..'

>Keep or Retry page comes up
>Hold Play to check sample
>Rename Sample
>Press 'Keep'

-Now back on the record page.

>Go to main page
>Scroll through programs, nothing new has come up.
>Mode - Load
>Change View: to SAMPLES
>Go to File and hit WINDOW
>Look through every sample in the Directory, and find Nothing.


What am I doing wrong!?

You will not find your newly recorded samples in the load screen unless you save them first.

After recording a new sample and choosing to "keep" it, go to the program screen where you can assign a sample / sound to individual pads. Select the desired pad and scroll through the sounds to assign to the pad... your recorded and renamed sample should be there.

Read up in the manual about how to assign a sound to a pad in detail...

When you press 'Keep' the sample is stored in RAM. Navigate to the Program Assign page (or however it's termed in the 2500), you should encounter a screen with pad/note numbers running down the left-hand side. To the right of this will be a blank space. Navigate to the blank space and spin the jog wheel. What happens when you do this?

I knew it would be something simple, but the whole mindset of using these things is so different to anything I've ever used. But I'm starting to get the hang of it.

I know man, I get the frustration you guys would get from people asking incredibly basic questions (this included I suppose!) when they could simply read the manual, but believe me man I have been reading the manual like a bible, and I knew how to load sounds into programs, I just didn't realise that when I kept a recorded sound, it would be found there.
