Recording on the G4 PowerBook

What is the best program for mixing and or recording mpc beats on the g4 power book. i just got it so i now need software. Help me out!

ableton live 4 no question if you want to keep a live element to your work, if u want a straight production package either cubase sx3 or logic 7 but these are expensive logic express is cheap but ableton is THA MUTS NUTS

which easier to use. I'm just getting into using computers and want a high quality software that is easier to use cause i use my mpc for almost everything.

if u got the 8 out get an audio interface and u can track str8 into cubase or logic what ever you choose.

what would be a good cheap interface?

ableton is a great place to start you can make and use audio loops and play them live via midi controlers, which are stupidly easy to asign in ableton. you can also record midi loops with external equipment and apply effects and automation all while the program runs it is a kick ass prog. plus as you try out new sets by triggering the loop ableton records what you did to each loop ie played and stoped them, onto a traditional logic/cubase interface (an arangement page) which you can fully edit and fine tune when youve finished you 'set'. think of it as a dj set but insted of playing set tunes you have control over all the elements of the tune which you can drop in and out as you like and record the lot onto seperate tracks as you play. by doing this you can make many variations of your tune as well as taking it straight out the studio and to a gig to play as a live set. phew!
cubase and logic are mainly used as production tools for recording and editing audio and midi they dont have an intentional live side to them but yhey are excellent at what they do in the studio. consentrate on what you want to do with your music and how the software can help you achive what you want, try not to worry which will be easyer you will figure out whatever you choose to go with in time and you will learn how to make it work the best way for you and your tunes.

im planning on using my ibook with ableton live, my 1k, akai mfc filter, korg es1, alesis mod fx, possibly the novation supernova/micro korg and some vintage sh101 and octave kitten together with my decks thru a 16 ch analogue desk with lots of sends. im going to experiment playing the tunes as live as i can and then finishing them off in either ableton or cubase sx. ive been formaly trained with cubase and as good as it is you can get bored moving, cutting, pasting fiddleing around with boxes of sound sat on your arse playing the same tune all day. i think when your recording other ppl fine use cubase or logic as you are recording 'there' live performance if you dealing with bands/singers etc. but when it comes to your own music being a computer based musician you miss out on some of the 'moments' that you can get playing your music off the fly and this is where ableton gives you the chance to do this. i only have a delta version of ableton but i have found for my own music it lets me get involved with the performance of my tunes in a way cubase never could. try dling a demo of each to see which may suit you best.
