I think it would be helpful to jump from any screen to the erase or record functions.
When I'm working on a beat I'm generally jumping back and forth between the edit screen and the program screen using the JJ numeric to toggle button function.
And sometimes while I'm adjusting things between these two screens I'll suddenly need to erase a sound.
I instinctively hit the Erase button before remembering that I have to go to main first, check the screen, THEN hit erase.
Seems like 1 extra step until you have to do it a hundred times.
Same for the record button.
I may be in the edit screen after just editing a sample and I want to drop it in and see if its on beat so I instinctively hit record+play and start plinking away.
Before realizing that I'm not recording anything, because record isn't on, because I didn't go to main first.
Every streamlining of button presses helps creativity and extends the life of the machine IMO.
And I dont think either of these suggestions would get in the way of something else.
