Question about the 4k tilt screen.

I just got my 4k and the first question is about the tilt screen:

It seems to need a lot of pressure to change to different angles, which is ok, but what concerns me was the final most upwards angle of the screen (I counted It was the 5th). I dont know If I tilted it too far but It made a pretty loud "clack" noise.

Is it suppose to go that far, or have I tilted it too far? Its pretty hard to explain the angle withouth picture, but If someone just clarifies that the 5th angle makes the clack noise im all good... I dont want to break my new baby in the first place

Mine only does three and a half clicks, I definitely wouldn't want to push for that extra fourth click.

But in your case, if it still works (screen works, tilt stays in the place you want it to), then I don't see the problem.

Is it difficult to remove the lcd housing? Can anybody point to a tutorial on how to remove the lcd housing?

Mine's about 3 clicks/positions, but I can see what Tutor is saying about 3.5 clicks/positions, I can kind of squeeze two positions out of the fully raised orientation.

It's definitely a stiff mounting and takes a little more force than my XL's or 2500.

The picture looks like the normal fully raised position so yeah looks like you're good.

I haven't seen a video on replacing/disassembling, but I'll keep an eye out for one.

I'm going to be working on some MPC4000 part upgrade videos/articles very soon, including replacing the faulty data wheel encoder, so I'll take a look to see if we can do something with the LCD while we're at it.

Maybe Coz can give lend me that brand new 4000 LCD he poached off me on ebay for a tenner, and we'll do a swap out video

No.

I've probably got another year or so left in mine before I have to consider replacing it.

The 4K completely slipped through the YouTube net when it comes to maintenance and repair videos.

They weren't breaking so most user were just using them instead of repairing or modding them.

I just think the OP might have had an original owner who did the classic flat table tilt the h@ll out the screen.

Personally I would leave it alone until I was doing some other type of work to the unit.

I plan on installing the screen, 8 output board and SSD mod at the same time to save too much pissing around.
