What kind of monitors are you using to mix with?

I was gonna say that adding sub might be your solution but based on what you described you be better off investing in new set....as for selling them off to gc You'll end up giving them away for free at gc due to their condition plus they gotta make a profit....

putting them on cl is your best bet, someone starting out or handy who could fix them up might get tempted or keep them as your back up or put in the garage. Yamahas got good reviews, so do Adams but they cost twice as much, Krk are known to be best bang for your buck.

I actually spent longer choosing my last pair of trainers than I did those monitors! It's unlike me because I'm usually an obsessive researcher when it comes to gear purchases.

I like the fact that you can roll without a sub and the sound is way chunkier than similar priced Yamaha monitors. I just need to get my room acoustics up to scratch so I'm not pissing in the wind when it comes to getting the bass right.

why get a sub? my low end comes out mixed fine as it is.

look into a closed box design too, and transmission line if you can afford it

i don't get why ported designs are so popular, given their inherent flaws? (as a reference speaker.. i'd use ported for listening)

Buyer beware... I've had to replace the power switches in them. I've had them since 2009. The switches eventually go bad and stick in the off position. SUCKS! new switch / front panel costs like $60 each.
but they are really great sounding monitors. and for those of us in room where your monitors are closer to the wall the Adams have the air hole / air vents (or whatever the actual term is) in the front as opposed to being in the rear. Helps with bass frequencies bouncing off walls and getting trapped in corners behind the desk.

I upped my mixing game using these... and a good number of other techniques but my ears were right allowing me to make good judgments with these Adams.

I like these a7's because it seems to not accentuate the bass. they have a very true sound in my rather untreated room.

In comparison to my old monitors, the A7X seem to handle every bit of bass you throw at them, and it still sounds good. That probably says more about my old monitors though.

My mixing game has improved since getting these Adam's.

What monitors did you have previously? I have the HS80's right now....been thinking about the A7x's for a bit.

I used these for years. Not the most amazing monitor ever made, but I'm used to the sound of them.
