PROBLEM WITH MEMORY on 2000

Hi. my problem is that my mpc cannot operate with memory. i have 32mb upgrade and usually about 31900kb of free memory is shown in disk window. but few days ago just 1900kb was shown (when i load just OS without any APS and ALL files of course) and sometimes 0kb so i cant load my files. do you have an idea where might be a problem? is it hardware problem? i use OS 1.72

take the ram out. then put it back in snuggly.
