After hours and hours on guitar forums, I can say this - guitarists are idiots. Not really, but there is so much convoluted information out there from stoned 15 year old white boys who got their Squire IIs 6 months ago that it's insane.
I play bass and guitar.
So, I figured I'd ask you guys, as while y'all might be stoned, you're not 15 year old idiots -
I'm primarily looking for a bass multifx unit, preferably rackmount (little secret...I'm in a wheelchair, so there is not much stomping on my boxes). I mostly play punk/hardcore, and like a very distorted sound, but want as much versatility as possible, as I do screw around with reggae and some kinda poppy stuff with friends. Primarily for recording, I haven't played a show in years and aren't particularly interested in it now, so not too worried about live applications.
So, here's what I'm wondering - does anybody here have any experience with a good multifx pedal but also, just as importantly, a good amp modeller?
Now, here's where it gets interesting. I was looking at the Line6 Pod XT Bass Live pedal, and noticed that I could get a Line6 Pod XT Pro and load the exact same amp models/fx that the XT Bass has, plus get new guitar fx.
In my very limited opinion, the HD series definitely beats the XT series for guitars, but there's no HD bass units. At the same time, I also have a Vox Tonelab ST sitting right here, so I have (again, in my super limited opinion...don't want to start talking like an idiot guitarist here) my guitar side covered, but figure the XT would be a good addition.
Anybody have any experience with any of these or know any alternatives I ought to go check out? I haven't heard the XT myself yet (just videos and stuff), but it sounds solid. I hear Boss has some good pedals, and have a friend who swears up and down that Zoom also has some stuff, but Zoom gear has always felt cheesey to me.
This will also be my last music purchase for a few years (not by choice, I promise), so I'd really, really like to get it right if possible. Gracias.
