Help. with 002rack

I was wondering if anyone can help me fig this out... I have a LaCie EX HD. It comes with Firewire port and the 3.0 usb thunderbolt I believe its called.

Right now I have My EXHD Connected with Firewire into the imac and my 002 Rack connected to the EXHD Fire wire.

My question is... Should I connect the Usb 3.0 into my imac instead of the firewire and my 002 rack firewire into the imac....

The OFFICIAL perspective from Digidesign when they first released the 002 and later 002R was that you do not put the hard drive between the interface and computer.
This was the whole reason the unit had 2 firewire ports so you could put the hard drive behind the interface if you lacked additional connects on your computer.

So basically you should use the second firewire port on the back of the 002R to connect the LaCie.
Want to know why?
Avid doesn't support or recommend the use of a USB hard drive on a Mac like they do for Windows.
They only started supporting it on Windows when Windows 7 changed things.

You should have asked this question over at the DUC or whatever Avid changed the name to.
