Do I need a Compressor???

What exactly in the hell is a compressor firstly and do i need one to go with my mpc2000, I record my beats that i make on SONAR3 and when i play them they have alot of background noise

It sorta sounds like i held a boombox up to the speaker and recorded it on tape, would a compressor eliminate that low quality sound??

Do a search on the internet and read up on compressors, noise reduction,
noise gates and limiting.

You can pull up a bigger amount of info quicker than waiting for a reply. That's what I would do anyway .

With sonar 3 you have a very good effects set in there. Also check out this site for some info on compression.

thank you, now I know exactly what compression is and what it can do for me, and that background noise, I found out is coming from my keyboard. I don't know why it does that. I'll probably get a new one
