Sending Clock from Ableton to MPC 1000

Hi,

I am trying to sync my MPC 1000 with Ableton Live 9. I basically just need to have Ableton sending a midi clock to my MPC 1000. I have my midi cable coming from my audio interface MIDI OUT to my MPC MIDI IN.

In the MIDI/SYNC mode I have:

Sync In: 1 (slave)
Mode: MIDI CLOCK

Receive MMC: ON

When I am playing a track from Ableton 'RX CLK' appear on the Main Page but my tempo doesn't sync with Ableton.

Please tell me If I am missing something.

Does it have to be Ableton to MPC

The MPC is hardware and has better Clock ... its also easier to setup and gives you the ability to use the START STOP LOCATE POINTS from the MPC ...

Ableton:
Click you MIDI settings and choose your MIDI IN port , and click that to see the extended options of SYNC REMOTE IN ... and you have the choice of MIDI TIMECODE or MIDI CLOCK
Both can work but MTC is more complicated than MC as it really requires Wordclock setup with either the SMPTE connectors or the DIGITAL S/Pdif setup both ways !

So if you can use MTC then choose 25 frames setting as MPC's like that !

otherwise MC is really simple and rock solid , just make sure you have both MIDI IN and OUT setup back and forth from the MPC to PC/MAC ... goto Sync settings in MPC and Sync out port A but leave Sync IN alone else you get a midi loop that will confuse the MPC ...

so SYNC OUT from MPC
SYNC IN Ableton
MIDI IN AND OUT to both MPC Ableton
When recording have a 2 or 4bar intro with dummy pads on 1/8 quant this gets in perfect sync by the time the music starts , don't need sounds just midi notes sent to ableton .... MIDITIME CODE is better to not to have to to this but is still good practice for rock solid timing !

I'm not at my machine at the moment but if you have more questions or still not working just ask ..as I got mine sweet ... and is a lot of fun to just use the Live part of Ableton with no sequencer but having every thing synced , like LFO's Dlays , VST's ..I find I can have a lot more things running on ableton with using the MPC as the sequencer rather than Ableton doing it all with a sketchy clock !

Also the MPC can sync up the rest of your gear like Multi tracker , Mixer Muting ,Gates ...other Synths whilst playing its own dope amplified sounds ... there is a reason its called An MPC ..MIDI PRODUCTION CENTER ... SO USE IT AT THE CENTER and get the most out of it ...whilst having your entire studio kick off at the touch of those nice pads ))
