I can't get any sound from sample record mode inside Sonar X2. I'm using Ren as plugin. I have tried both the phono inputs and the line inputs. I watched the video on LOgic but inside Sonar there is no sidechain option in the plugin. Hopefully its just something I'm overlooking.

Does Sonar allow audio to be routed to plugin tracks like Pro Tools?

Within Pro Tools, you create an Instrument Track and insert the Ren. Since Pro Tools route audio to Instrument Tracks, you set the Tracks input to 1-2 or 3-4 to correspond to the Ren's analog or digital inputs. This will allow you to sample with the Ren plugin.

Maschine has I side chain input I believe so it should work.

I'm more concerned with Ren. I can sample no problem in standalone but I want to be able to sample inside Sonar. The input lights are flashing on the hardware and I can hear what I want to sample in the headphones plugged into Ren. No levels come up on the sample record though

I thought Studio One 2 can use AU plugins? If so, then it should have a side chain input like the Ren AU in Logic.

Which plugin formats does Sonar use? Is there a Sonar trial version available?

Are you using the Ren as an audio interface for Sonar? Or are you using another audio interface? This could be your problem. Check your audio interface inputs and outputs situation in both the mpc and sonar. You are trying to sample inside the MPC plug-in while being hosted inside Sonar, correct? I'm not sure if the mpc plugin actually samples. I am messing around with it in protools and its not working for me either, of course I can sample inside PT on an audio track but in the mpc plug in I'm not getting any input for sampling in there. I checked my Ren settings and cant find an audio interface in preferences, so it must default to your protools interface which is my same interface, my Scarlett Focusrite so I dont know what's up with that.

For now I would just sample into the Ren in standalone, then if you want, save it, open it up as a plug in in Sonar. Rather that I wouldnt even use the Ren as a plugin right now unless you're tracking out, at least until they make a controller mode for specific daws. Right now the mpc plugn functionality is in a rough state depending on different daws. Could also be a problem on the side of Sonar. I know a lot of people use Sonar but I don't think it's as popular as logic, pt, ableton, cubase etc so could be an isolated problem in Sonar just the issue hasnt popped up yet. Have you talked to other Sonar users using the Ren about this? might be a bug, report it
