what about a stripped down version of the mpc software running on iOS (and maybe android)?

I would kill for having the ren running on my iphone or ipad...

something like no plug-ins and no internal effects, just audio and sequencing.

thats gonna be awesome!

i think even the ipnone 4s and the ipad 3 can handle it.

oh wait,

you must mean synthstation?

(seriously, based on their track record it ain't gonna happen)

If you want a real treat, download Beatmaker 2

The only way you're getting what you mentioned is to get iOS dev kit software, take the old JJ Sequencer PC software, recompile/re-write all the code to run on iOS, and put it on a jailbroken iOS device. (Or just get a Windows RT Pro tablet and use the original JJ sequencer software)

Or even more difficult really, take an MPC OS code base and re-write it line by line for iOS.

But yeah any iOS device ever released could run any MPC OS ever made and not break a sweat at all. All the devices have had at minimum 256MB of RAM and CPU's that are more powerful than the 16 bit ones in most MPC's.

Getting Beatmaker 2 is your best bet. It's far superior to iMPC or iMaschine, to an extent that it's actually ridiculous how much better it is.

yeah beatmaker2 seems really nice! just got an ipad 3 so i was wondering...

i meant a stripped down version of the mpc software, which work with the ren via usb,so you can use the knobs, the pads and rens soundcard as well.

anyway i must check beatmaker2 and if i can use it in conjunction with the mpd 32.

Should be fine. MPD32 will probably require power though...

I would like to see a stripped down version that runs on any OS. Like an LE version of the MPC Software at a low price point.

^Yeah man, somebody could re-compile the code in like a day and half at most. I think unfortunately it would not be realized that every MPC fan with an iOS device would buy it, monochrome graphics and all. Like your iPad would look like literally like a VGA out 3k on the screen. But we would all pay for that, especially if it had all the proper MIDI out features to be used with Camera Kit+MIDI interface, iConnect, docks and so on. Just knowing it's not the graphics or presentation we want, it's the proven sequencing and familiar OS style.

Make it like $5 market as "classic MPC emulation" for the folks that are gonna see the monochrome graphics and be like WTF? (not us of course ) and they could sell a few copies. And it would cost almost nothing to make the app.

I had always hoped OS X's RS-16 app would get ported to iOS, that would be closest we get to the OP's suggestion/dream I think. I just don't see JJ or Akai ever doing a straight port.

And yes andreat668, as long you have a MIDI solution in place for your iOS device it will work with Beatmaker. I have used an MPD32, 4 different MPC's, Korg drumpads...it all works.

One tip though Beatmaker 2 has 8 pad banks, and starts on MIDI note # 1 for pad 1A. So on an MPD you'll need to make 2 presets. One for Notes 1-64, and another for Notes 65 and up. If you need MPC PGM's for BM2 I posted 2 1k/2500 ones in the Tablet Apps thread a while ago.

bought beatmaker2 and ims20, holy shit!!!

the ios ms 20 emulation sounds better than the vst one!

thinking of transferring all my sample folder to the ipad (64 gb), buying an io dock and use the shit as a portable sound module for sampling via the mpc.

sorry for the ot...
