I avoid this plugin in Ren and Maschine. In Pro Tools, this plugin introduces A LOT of latency. At one point it was over 1200 samples of latency. Then they put out an update that brought it down a lot, but it's still like 500-600 last time I used it!

-Waves API 2500 OR UAD Shadow Hills Mastering Comp
-UAD Ampex ATR 102
-FabFilter Pro Q
-FabFilter Pro L

The reason behind the Pro Q is to mainly just do small corrections after bringing the limited level up. Usually I only have to maybe drop 1db at 2-3k. The Pro L seems to make things a little more harsh like a lot of limiters when you raise the level. I try not to squash anything, just get it decently loud.

Another thing.....I try to mix into the master bus compressor and also the tape saturation. If you slap it on at the end, you never know what you'll get.....usually have to go back and fix everything anyways.
