Interesting. I wasn't so impressed until the part about removing "lowpass" filtering and the examples after it. It's like they're boosting it with some kind of inverted lowpass (or high-shelving) filter and rebuilding the harmonic structure or something, in the case of the lowpass one. Of course I have no idea how they're actually doing it. Crazy stuff however they're doing it, especially since it's supposedly "automatic". I wonder if they'll be able to avoid phase shifts with all of this re-contouring.

Their Unveil plug-in is also impressive from what I've seen/heard. A good alternative to the UA Bob Katz plug-in.

applying it to new sounds is also awesome IMO... I can see some real uses for that in designing new sounds for sure... especially if it can record a "macro" or what ever it would be called... and it re-applies the pattern to a new sound and not just a frozen snapshot of a segment of the sound.


I like what im hearing.

This seem to be a very powerful software but don't expect wonders like in the unfiltered lopass demonstration.
You can't rebuild whats really gone. I mean whats REALLY gone. you can amplify it when there is a rest of the material (even if it is so quiet you wont hear it. something like -70 dBfs but when its gone (-96 dBfs at 16 bit), its gone, forever.

It's based on blind deconvolution apparently. Has anyone actually tried it? Coz? I'm sure the example material are "canned" to demonstrated proof of concept using ideal material, however it looks like it would be great for non-extreme corrections.

I've never seen anything like it, but I can imagine it being a really useful sound design tool like Mr D was saying.

Either way, it's another step in the direction of being able to extract single sounds from complete mixes in high quality, which I think will be a huge advance for the samplist.
