Where to buy spares?

Hey I'm in the UK and the companies involved in Akai spares suck total dick - a complete rip off and not interested in helping you out of a hole quickly.

Are there some good places in the US to get this stuff? I need a new jog wheel for the 4000, plus could do with an extra internal power cable for the CD Rom.

Any advice appreciated.

Yeah "oakie" is a tool if you ask me - he had some good ideas early on, but gone the way of all hyped-up big boys of late with his trancey trance trance remix of "trancey trance" by trance-trance...

You US guys are seriously into the MPC scene eh... nothing like it here in the UK. I've got a mate who got me into the 2000XL, but I sold that and went the whole hog for a (cheap) 4000.. hence it's got a faulty jog wheel, but it was such a bargain I'm not that upset, as long as I can get a spare!!!

Crate diggin ain't so hot here, there's a lot of junk about, and the good stuff is usually snapped up by people who know what it is, and recycled onto ebay for 10x the price!

Fingers crossed then - man, Akai should seriously do their homework when it comes to choosing these "approved" service centres... they (and most other big brands like korg, roland, etc.) just seem to give it to the biggest butt-munching rip off merchant in the country!!

Surely the spares could just be ordered from a website operated by Akai, and orders passed to the relevant dealer in each country (if required). That way they could control the pricing and take over territories that were badly managed themselves.

Thanks to everyone for the advice - VST have hooked me up with a new jog wheel switch and got a spare power cable for the cd rom drive at the same time.

Them guys know no-hassle service alright... now, back to tracking down an 8-outs board....
