I have restarted my computer, reinstalled the driver, everything... And still nothing.

I hope the thing coming out on the 13th is a replacement MPC for the people who wasted their money on a controller that doesn't work well.

Anyone have any ideas? I feel like it's a software issue, not hardware since when I click on the pads on the program, they don't light up either.

can you be more specific?

it's messed up if the pads dont light up when powered on while not plugged into a computer. after a minute or so, the mpc should go into vegas mode where all the lights flash. if it doesnt then call them up.

if it does, then it's not hardware related. which is good, but still annoying.

Based upon your vague description, it sounds as if you TURNED the pad lights OFF.

1. Press [PAD ASSIGN] button
2. Press F6 [Velo Col]
3. Strike your pads and they should light up.

As previously noted by myself and TommyTench, more specifics are needed to trouble shoot your issue:
1. MPC Ren or Studio?
2. MPC Software Version?
3. Hardware Info: Firmware Version, Driver Version?
4. PC or Mac; operating system?

So after going into PAD ASSIGN and turning on 'Velo Col' are you pads lights still not responding? What kind of software glitch are you having?

Can you most a video of your software glitch?

I can only assist you if you provide the specifics that were requested.

I have everything up to date, using the Renaissance on Mac OS X 10.8.4.

The lights ARE responding when I go into pad assign. Although, the text on the MPC's screen gets kind of messed up occasionally. You have to highlight it to get it all back. It's really weird. I feel like it's all software, but I don't know.

You are asking for help but refuse to answer basic questions. That sounds suspect. Either you don't really want help or...you know where I am going next.

Contact Akai Technical Support...and they will ask you the same questions. :WTF:

Personally if I had something like this going on Akai would have been my point of attack not this forum.

It's just too real and problem to expect a simple resolution.

In other words it would already be boxed up and on it's way to them.

You have not answered the questions. But here they are in case you missed them the first time:

If it's not procedural the only answer you'll ultimately get is to take it back or call Akai. Everyday you spend jumping through hoops on this forum works against you. Contact Akai and start the process of getting the problem resolved on that end . You can always communicate here in the meantime and abort the process with Akai if you get the problem resolved. However, don't caught up dicking around in this forum with someone that wants to make you jump through hoops for their own amusement.
