exporting midi files

can midi sequence data be exported from the mpc2000xl into pro tools?

You should be able to because you can with Logic & Cubase. Don't forget though that tracks in your sequence that are triggering MPC pads are not going to make much sense in a computer program unless you use a sample player in that particular track, with the same type of sound as was in the MPC set to the same midi note number.

Save the sequence as usual> copy the sequence to your desktop(or wherever on your PC)> open PT> create a new session> click on the File tab and select Import MIDI to Track.

Have fun assignin' all the samples to the right notes like featherboy said.

its alright if u use midi, you can go into the graffical mode and edit your patterns on the comp then save em back into the mpc. i do this alot for drum and bass style programing where i can do stuff quikly and create alotr of variations to the original sequence. then load em all back in.

so essentially i can export files from my mpc into protools, edit my sequences in pro tools, and save them back on the mpc?? this sounds wonderful. would i be able to do this directly with midi functions via midi cables? or would i just have to save my mpc sequence on a floppy, load it in my computer, edit, then load back into my mpc?? would appreciate any info on these steps. thanks.
