EPS-16+ OR ASR-10

I have a fully loaded Mpc2000xl...
I love making my drums on it, but I want a keyboard to play my samples..

My options

Eps-16+ for 350.00 canadian
ASR-10 for 800.00 canadian both max'd out ram

for the money which is my best bet? Im leaning towards the Eps because of the price and for what I want it will be fine.....I think?

Anyone got any pro's-con's about either when being used with the Mpc 2000xl?

Why don't you consider the Triton or Motif. They both have sampling capabilities and are both keyboards. You would only spend maybe $400 bucks more on either plus you dont have to worry about coping damaged goods. From what I understand the ASR-10 is hard to have serviced.

asr has better features than the triton......ha....i don't know about that....the good thing about the asr is that you can lower the sample rate down to 3khz....why would you want to though......you might wanna lower the rate though...but that is kinda low....

I meant the eps, but the ASR has feaures that no other samplers have.

If you just want a keyboard to play samples why dont you save yourself a couple hundred dollars and buy a maudio midi controller.

I like the asr 10, I had a post on here bout it, they keys feel DVIVNE. I started off with piano, so synth keys never feel right to me. I hate them its just a personal preference though, but its the little prefernces that make good gear GREAT.

Personally, If you know enuff about electical engineering, you can fix the asr-10 urself. getting parts is a pain but I think Mutec makes asr-10 parts. Basically, if you wanna reproduce the sound u hearon the radio, go trition, if you wanna get deep into sampling and the sound tweaking go asr-10. Ever since the neptunes anounced they use the asr-1o and almost nothing else to make thier beats there has been a run on them.... mpc 3000 gots one 4 sale, hit him up.

Go Foo! I use two e-mu sound modules, two turntables, an asr-10, and the mpc. This set up has not required me to use a pc yet, with the exception of collecting samples, sounds, and beats.

The asr-10 is an antique, but they don't build them like that anymore. Jus' about every parameter can be edited. There are effects that will loop your sample for recording into the mpc. There's a reason e-mu bought out ensoniq.

The effects alone are worth the price of the asr-10. It has around 40 built in effects that each are broken into 4 sub effects that can be edited independently. Shop around for the asr-10. I found mine at a pawn shop and scored it for $180 without the discs (easily obtainable on the internet).

It's your choice, but my money would be on the asr-10.

man for 180 I would most def buy it and step over my own momma to get it.
There will be 2 kinds of people selling it, the musician who knows its valuable, but also knows its specs cant compete with modern gear, but will try to get around 1 grand for it.

then there are those who recognize that like PC's it just loses value as it gets older and will sell it for 200-500 dollars. Most of the peeps on ebay are the latter, just make sure that the SCSI works, (disc's are a pain) and make sure that the keys all work, (I think this is the most expensive to replace as it must be cannibalized from another one)

I had the chance to use both of the keyboards ASR/EPS
I decided to go with the EPS-16+, alot cheaper and it came with scsi aswell. It seemed to be the same machine just less ram.

I love that thing, the effect are so dope..You can load in all different types of effects aswell. That thing and the MPC 2000xl are now joined at the hip!
