Exactly what I said......MPC 5000 "Unplugged" = MPC Renaissance. All the way down to the hardware being a 'dongle' for the software.

Latency? Akai did what many thought was impossible. Pad responsiveness, low latency, solid sequencer.....all aspects of the product that 'some' doubted they could pull off and they did.

Glad to be part of its continued development. I am proud of what the Ren has become and look forward to seeing its maturation....to include many of the features users want.

Trying to take ANY credit for the idea behind the Ren is lame. The evolution of the sampler has led us to a point where software is way more powerful than any hardware, so the natural course of events is that the software resides on a computer and the bundled controller (if needed) helps to engage the user. This is nothing new, as we've discussed many times, and anyone with half a brain can appreciate how and why we've ended up in this situation in 2013. The DAW basically killed the hardware sampler.

What the DAW lacks is personality though. A creative producer is still as likely to be able to produce something decent with "obsolete" hardware as they are with all these software/controllers. Convenience makes people lazy.

Of course you don't know. Software functions that are not available from the hardware include:
1. Most software preference menu options
2. Scrolling the sequencer grid while sequence is stopped
3. Export Sequence
4. Rename files
5. Setting Master Level
6. Submixer access
7. Open/close software browser
8. Open/close plugin instrument GUIs
9. Setting Time Signature
.......

There is a community of Ren/Studio users here that have to navigate through a bunch of bs daily. Is this what this forum is for?
