Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Questions I have:

How will this work with projects that are already written in the full software? Will I be able to take a song in the full mpc software and somehow load it / convert it to essentials? Therefore spread it across multiple tracks in my DAW "automatically"? Will this be able to load legacy projects from the 5000 for example, like you can in the full software?

Many, many more questions. But definitely intrigued.

First, if you are going to read a thread about bugs or stability....ensure you read the entire post. I have stopped counting the number of times someone yelled bug and it was either user error or them expecting the software to perform in a way that it wasn't designed. Easily 50% of the reported issues can be disregarded. Embarrassingly...we have forum members that can't read the manual or the help that is provided in response to them asking for help. So I certainly wouldn't judge a product based solely on commentary here....regardless of who says it.

Now every valid bug in this forum, I have commented on, confirmed it and reported it. The majority of them involved use of 3rd party plugins. It would be nice to have a dedicated forum to report bugs like what is in the JJ OS Forum. You guys that are in better graces with the mods can petition them for such a sub forum. It can only help support this platform.

Other than the problem with specific plugins, there are minimal 'issues' reported here. 95% plus of the dialog is folks wanting feature requests added.

No need to quote me...I am sure he can get the answers he needs from one of the few forum members here that actually knows how to use this product. I suggest Hellfire.

Why? Dude, you're a reg on the SP forums....people paid $400+ for glorified effects pedals. Please don't run with that statement because I love the Boss SP line...I just think it would be helpful to substantiate your position a little.

Ok. I'll take your word for it.

But I am feeling kinda of giving. I may give away an MPC Element for free....perhaps have a beat battle or something.....

I gave away money for the first and only beat battle I hosted a few years back....

Before anyone says it....I am not talking down to anyone to imply they can't afford to buy their own.

I don't work for or represent any forum. Just here to be me and talk about skills and methods. If you feel a cheap dongle and a limited software than the iMPC will help you make better music and ASSIST the Ren, well so be it. I feel its a corny move by Akai to get rid of unsold Flys when the backbone of that project should've been toward the Ren. Its a waste. At least SPs evolutionize after every model. Ren uses the power of your PC and you still going backwards.

My position is Monster One :D

JAH wrote:What CPU hit are you experiencing? I seen one issue when a member was using up a lot of polyphony with a technique he was doing. Other than that, the remaining complaints about the software (as far as stability) is using other plugins inside it. And this is not a general plugin issue...but related to specific ones...and there are hundreds of plugins available (to include buggy ones).

I'm just speculating here..I personally haven't experienced an issue using the MPC software within a host. But we are constrained to one instance. So there are two variables here.

One is the potential bug of running multiple instances...and this is a valid concern because it's observed with many plugins that become unstable running multiple instances. Maybe this is also a reason why only one instance of the MPC software was available within the host??

These may be DAW dependent as well. So, how will the problems be handled for DAWs that have greater issues handling Essentials?

Integration may be an issue as well. I use FL Studio and while the mute track is midi assigablle...the solo is not..and theres no workaround. This is an issue with IL of course, it just sucks knowing one button (out of only few) are useless before it even gets out the box..but I digress. And all in all, there is no reason to believe support will go above and beyond for this thing...it's cheap AF. And it's almost understandable.

Can this thing be opened up? This will be a very big issue I'd imagine...the pads are not good.

/rant

Speculation noted.

But most popular plugins can be used multiple times in a DAW...at least the ones I own. Akai advertised that the Essentials plugin can be used within your DAW on multiple tracks. I believe it should be pretty stable. However, if someone is worried that the Essentials plugin will crash their DAW, I suggest (turn on DAW auto save) or use Bitwig Studio DAW. This DAW has built in plugin crash protection from what I have seen on You Tube.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about support. Not yet anyway. If the number of updates the Ren/Studio has received won't ease concerns...nothing will. Besides, it looks like the Essentials Software is almost identical. I am speculating that may be developed simultaneously....

Me looking at the matter as half-full instead of half-empty...

Id love to use bitwig myself but its not released yet nor does it have a release date! so why would u even mention that????

I know somebody who is beta testing it... I wish I could get my hands on it too. It looks super intuitive
