NEED A NEW MIXING CONSOLE

After upgrading my computer (that came with 10.8.3) I realized my Tascam is no longer capable with the software and because the computer shipped with 10.8.3 Im no longer able to downgrade to 10.6.8 ( I thought I read EVERYTHING before buying...) Now I need a new console, have about $1500-2000. Needs to have 16-24 channels, firewire/USB or thunderbolt, must be able to record all 16-24 tracks individually. motorized faders are not a big deal, if it had a scrub awesome... if not no big deal. Anybody have any suggestions??? I know my budgets tight but I dont need an SSL board yet............ yet

have you looked at the Presonus consoles?

yeah yeah, its a pain in the ass but a blessing in disguise as well. I swap out equipment all the time in my studio... keeps things fresh. I'll be getting rid of my Tascam FW1884, my Fostex e16 R2R and my soundcraft mixer i'll only end up spending an additional 6-800 bucks for this guy....

Tread carefully with that choice.

Had two of these, yes, two. They both died, instable power supply issues. Have seen it reported a good few times on the net as well as I fell prey to this issue the first time, it was problematic and inconvenient to say the least. Had to ship it back (after a good few emails, A&H were not the most helpful company in the world either) got a replacement, lasted 6 months. Replaced again and I sold it on.

Downtime out of my setup was costly and a pain in the neck. Lesson learned, will never put all my eggs in one basket again (in terms of mixer and interface in one unit).

It is a good console, but not THAT good given my experience with it.

that's unfortunate... for the OP, maybe look into the mackie onyx 1640i instead... i have the 1220i and haven't had any issues...

ohh thats a bummer... damn I always liked the sound of allen and heath mixers. hmm i'll have to do some more research but thanks for the warning! might not heed it but it was good to hear.

the mackie is an option I have looked at it... I just wish it wasn't so freakishly long

midas venice f 16.....not long ago, they were way too expensive....but they built these ones for so long now in the same way, which is always a really good sign, that zhey become affordable now....

supersmooth pro eq's, real summing capabilities, 16 fw channels in two directions, flexibel routings at any time, 6 auxillaries and top analog sound....
solid drivers for all usual daws...
rock solid and first choice of many many live engineers all over the place....
and with the new interface options it's an amazing studio mixer, too.....
1600 euros......

just a thought...you can downgrade osx to previous version/version your inerface supports by doing fresh install
