Why did I mention it? Because folks are worrying about a product that isn't available yet.....so we may as well speculate about other products that are not available yet.

I wonder if these latest developments will spur Roger Linn to finishing the Boomchik?

Id love to use bitwig myself but its not released yet nor does it have a release date! so why would u even mention that????

I know somebody who is beta testing it... I wish I could get my hands on it too. It looks super intuitive

If bitwig can expand my live beat set than im all over it.

dude, wtf r u talking about??

Software that works properly without crashing randomly and **** up people's hard work will guaranteed ease concerns.

Thats what the **** software is supposed to do...

It is concerning that anything else is being put on the market while the software continues to not even be out of beta stage

He did, And I love it. Linn and Smith both stated the boomchik was the original name of what is now the Tempest. Much like the Ren it needed user feedback and updates, but at this stage it very solid and a beautiful piece.

its safe to presume that nukais scheming will not impact roger's workflow whatsoever.....

he probably just finds it MILDLY amusing that once again, the crooks at nukai are "rearranging chairs on the titanic".... IF news of this insignificant piece of schit even made it as far as his ears...

dont get it twisted.

nukai relies upon and stagnates with roger's creations, not the other way around.......

since you mentioned it...... :P

Actually they didn't. They reversed direction and split the Boomchik into two products...one released as the Tempest and the other the Linn Drum II (sampler) which will likely never see the light of day.

This is another exaggeration. I am not saying it will never crash...but I haven't seen any threads with people losing 'hard work' with the 1.4 release. Additionally, 1.4 added an autosave function.

this is exactly what Akai needed to do. their gonna sell like hotcakes, big move for them, now lets just hope software continues to grow better and better with each release.

If you think about it, there are not to many plugins/vst's like the MPC Element.. there is Fxpansion Giest, Battery and phatmatik pro

but none of them have a controller designed specifically for the software.. like I said before, I like the idea.. I think this was a much needed plugin for the DAW world, but I just don't like the thin controller

The question I have though, when using Battery or Giest, I have my drum, snares and hats on the same track, usually taking up a few drum pads on my mpd with sounds, but I am able to route those individual sounds on different channels on the mixer.. does the element have that feature or would the user have to put each percussion sound on different tracks?

hmm

Yea to need to know how many virtual outs...I highly doubt they have 16 virtual outs. The virtual outs is a big issue with the mpc software. And essentials is just the guts of the same program.

Also...is the unit built with screw mounts...if this joint don't have screws....its a scratch for me.

And somebody else touched in it earlier...or in another thread. Is the Element essentially a dongle? If so...I may have to think twice on that as well. If this essentials softwares parameters can be mapped...that would be huge. If I can set my chop points with knobs from a third party controller...im sold.

I know that is pipe dream.territory though.

I spoke to Roger Linn not long ago.. he's still working on the LDII..
Why is it taking so long? first off standalone hardware is a lot more complex to design then pure software. especially when you don't have a giant R&D team backing you. but the advantage is he isn't rushed the way soft teams are which means a better thought out, less buggy product. it also means there isn't a giant corp breathing down his neck and pushing for affordability and profit margins like it was the case towards the end of his partnership with Akai Japan.. and would undoubtebly be the case with Nukai today.. that means no compromise in features, price and build quality.. he can essentially go all out.. but finally what Roger is interested in is innovating, he invented MPC's 25 years ago but he's not interested in repeating that or catering to the hip-hop market or even ITB crowd.. so don't hold your breath, the LDII will probably not be an MPC killer in the sense most here are expecting it to be.. what it should be however is a forward thinking product with a focus on playability, sound & reliability, like any instrument that aspires to stand the test of time..

This was announced 5 years ago or so.....vaporware that will probably never see the light of day.

I am certainly not holding my breath especially after he said some of his best designs when into the Tempest. That joint is boring...........

Am I the only one seeing in the Element the definitive REN killer?

Should the plugin be stable enough (no reasons to think differently), I can see:

Beatcleaver/Recycle + Element + BCR2000 + Reaper as being a cheap but good alternative to the REN/STUDIO... if you're interested in a hybrid workflow.

My 2 (euro) Cents.

The only way it's a Ren killer IMO...is if they unlocked the software to work with any controller. And I would bet my penis getting slammed in a sliding glass door that wont be the case....for the obvious reasons.

They would have effectively undercut the Studio, Ren and, above all else, their profits...at the same time.
