Jahrome answered that it does.
.

so the Element is a more portable "dongle" for the full mpc software??

like lets say u have the ren, and want to work on a track on the road, but dont wanna buy a mpc studio.. the element could open full mpc ren projects?

The Element (controller)/MPC Essentials (software) has only one track. So if you had a Ren project, I am not sure how you would get all of its tracks into the Essential. It would 'seem' as if you would have to have multiple instances of the Essentials (1 for each MPC Ren Sequence Track) loaded in your DAW.

If possible, I wonder how could this be accomplished? Would you have to load a track into each instance individually? Or could this process be automated to load across multiple instances?

Nukai love dong-les so you can guarantee you'll have to dock your dong-le and leave it dangling.

ok word, so the answer to my question is actually NO, the mpc essentials HARDWARE cannot run/operate/open the standard/regular mpc SOFTWARE (for those that already bought a ren/studio)

i know you can use it inside the mpc software (or anything) as a plugin, but thats not what i meant

why have to do some bullshit workaround to accomplish that? multiple instances blah blah blah...

How can you load a 128 track MPC Software project inside of 1 track MPC Essential? That is an obvious limitation. Of course an Essentials project can be loaded into an MPC Software project.

i understand where you're coming from - but you're missing the point

the mpc essential hardware could serve as an excellent "dongle" for those who would want to take mpc projects on the road without having to buy an mpc studio in addition to the ren that you already own.

basically meaning by having the mpc essentials hardware plugged into your laptop you can open the regular mpc software and work on projects you already have going on..

it seems counter productive to add yet another thing.. i understand the benefits of the product that have been pointed out in this thread - im just sayin if there's no backwards compatibility (ie mpc essentials can load into mpc regular software, but not vice versa) its NOT a true sketch pad/tool for working on beats on the go

when it easily COULD be,.. just by allowing people who already own the ren/studio to access their software with only the mpc essential hardware plugged in

Here's a free feature tip for the ren if not possible yet to go around the 1 track limitation and actually make something worthwhile out of project import:
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/pad_move3.htm

here's the relevant part from the page:
If F3 (MULTI) button is pushed, the pad event of A01-D16 will be moved to tracks 1-64.
Moreover, the same program is automatically assigned to all the tracks.

sorry - to clarify what i mean by this .... i understand that theres no way the "essentials" software can load a ren project.. that makes sense.. but if you OWN both, you're gonna have both copies of software... lets say you go on the road with your laptop but wanna work on beats.. you have the regular software on your computer.. but no, not even with mpc essentials hardware will it allow you to use the software.. that doesnt make sense. its a forced limitation and its an example of what Nym was pointing out...

akai reminds me of a religious group sometimes.. "its just this way cause thats how it is, okay!! cause we said so"

lmao :WTF:

edit - and of course this could all change.. and i could be wrong.. just my opinion currently

If in 1-2 years there has been no multi-timbral implentation, then yes JAH. Especially when we were (mis)led to believe that this functionality existed from the beginning. "Seamlessly integrates with your favorite DAW" led me and many others here, based on various threads, to believe that from-the-beginning, the Ren was multi-timbral and was capable of recording its internal sounds to the DAW sequencer of your choice via MIDI.

From the beginning, I have been a very vocal proponent of the Ren and the infancy stages of its software and will continue to be. I LOVE my Ren. But don't try to piss on my head and tell me it's raining. Even though you are my dude, I don't care what you say or how vehemently you defend Akai. I will not back down from or excuse Akai for not including/ implementing a functionality that is all but standard in today's DAWs, hardware controllers and MIDI production workflows.

You still my guy though! :smoker:

We are talking about two different things.

Clarify...the Element is a controller. Essentials is the software. I was talking how a 128 track MPC Ren project would be difficult to load into a 1 track Essential project.

Now wanting to use the Element controller to run the MPC Software that the Ren/Studio uses....good idea. The software was already paid for; it would be a nice touch to allow the smaller controller to control the flagship software.

Not trying to get you to bite my man. I don't play those internet games and truly consider you to be an intelligent guy with good intentions. I'm just voicing my difference of opinion on the subject in the most factual and respectful way possible. It's ok for us to agree to disagree. This is a forum after all.

And you're still my guy. :smoker:

According to the akai Pro FB page...the Element will be able to work with the full MPC software when revision 1.5 rolls out
