For those of you that seem confused, this is an mpd with light up pads. It operates via a plugin for your daw or elements which is a scaled down version of the actual mpc software. This plugin is similar to the Ren/studio plugin except that the Element plug in will only have one track per instance. The element will control everything inside of that element plugin, or the element software. As of now there is no mention of any feature the Element will have that the Ren/Studio doesnt have. If anything it looks more like it will have a lot less features.

Hey if you want to make beats while you travel, even though still being chained to your laptop, then this might be an option for someone but I can't see a pro being interested in anything like this.

so you're trying to tell me all these mpcs have had a "time signature" button?

UMMMM thats note repeat, not time signature :Sigh:

You change the time sig on the main screen or in the software.... 4/4, 3/4, etc...

and if you want to change the time signature while note repeat is on... Hold Note Repeat and press F6 to change to toggle triplets on and off.

If only half of the people that said that they were going to cop the Fly actually did it wouldn't be getting a repackage.

They crippled the software but the first order of business will surely be to make sure those VSTs masquerading as hardware don't work in the gimpware version.

no new features here, Ren/studio has virtual outputs which is better than opening multiple instances of a plug in. Also the Ren/Studio CAN change tracks of the mpc software from the controller, it can NOT change tracks inside your daw like PT, cubase, or logic, etc... neither can the element, those track toggle buttons refer to the mpc software/plugin not your daw that is hosting it.

but essentials only has ONE track? :hmmm:

Sounds pretty accurate from my understanding. But the part that needs to be highlighted is that the Element hardware can toggle between instances:
1. Load Essentials VST on 16 DAW instrument tracks
2. Use the Element's Track buttons to navigate to the 16 instances of the Essentials VST

So in theory...using the Element Controller (or the Ren/Studio), you can switch between Essential instances as easy as switching tracks on a standalone MPC.

New features? We will have to wait and see.....
