Midi problem

I recently bought a midi interface because I'm looking to make recording from my MPC to Ableton Live easier. I want to be able to press play on the MP and have Live play with it, so I can record what I have created on the MPC into live, without having to trim the sequences after recording. I have a midi chord going from midi out on the MP, to my interface, to a USB in on my computer. I am using midi time code, as midi clock makes ableton's tempo move around uncontrollably for some reason (ex. tempo on mp is 85, but it skips around in ableton from anywhere in between 84-46). While using midi time code, both the mp and ableton play in sync, but the first half second or so of audio do not play. When the audio does come in, it wavers at some points, whereas when I turn off the external sync switch in ableton and just press play with the spacebar, audio starts on 1.1.1 seamlessly, and plays without wavering (in ableton, that is). I've played around with delays to no luck, and I also noticed that the sequence does not loop, even when I have the loop switch in ableton turned on, and loop in the mpc on. In the mpc I have the frame rate set to 30, and the MMC on. I use and MPC 1000 with Ableton Live 8, running on a Mac. Just to clarify, I am using ableton as the slave, and the MP as the master, hoping to be able to have record activated in Ableton, so i can press play on the MP and it will record the track perfectly, without having to trim. Feels like it should be simple stuff..... Hopefully this makes sense.

I have never used "live" but it is usual to have your software as master and the mpc as slave.so when you press play in live the mpc will also start. It usually works better this way.
Missing the first part of your first sequence is normal. It occurs because the mpc has to catch up with the computer. It's easily solved by adding a blank bar (or more) to the start of your song on the mpc. This means , by the time the audio kicks in, the two machines are fully synchronised with a little silence at the start. This can easily be edited out later.

As far as the looping thing goes, I don't think you will be able to get it to loop, you need to string sequences together (or make them repeat) in mpc SONG mode, then live will play the song in sync with itself.

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking that my problem may be a little bit too hard to explain through text. I don't want to use the MPC's "song" sequencer, as I would like to track out my beats into ableton, and mix/level them there. I'd like to have the MPC as the master, so I can basically hit record in ableton, and hit play on the MPC with the designated track "solo'd" so that it records into ableton without the need to trim.

So you want to record each track one by one?

Why not try constructing a beat with SONG mode with a blank seq at the start and then convert the song to a sequence and record that into live
If you construct it from more than one seq, make sure all the tracks in all sequences align in the mpc.

You still really need live to be master. When you press record in live, it will trigger the mpc to start at the same time. No need to press play on the mpc.

Yep, I want to have each track separate in ableton, that way I can properly level and mix the track. If I was to do what you are saying, wouldn't that just give me one chunk of tracks from the MPC, all on one ableton track? I just find that the mixing and mastering on the MPC is very very basic..... I want to use ableton like pro tools, essentially.

That's what I am saying. Convert it to one long sequence and then you can use track mutes (or solo) to record only what you want.
