I'm sorry I wasn't clear.

As of now, if I open an instance of the Ren plugin loaded with Ren internal sounds onto a track inside of Pro Tools or any other DAW, press record to record to the DAW track and hit the Ren's pads to trigger Ren sounds, nothing is recorded onto the DAW track.

I would like to be able to record the Ren's internal sounds via MIDI into Pro Tools, Logic, etc..

WOULD BE GREAT IF the Essentials plug in is free to owners of the Ren,Studio that like to work like that ( one kit per track) but don't need the dumbed down controller

So let me get this straight...

Controller mode will only work when an instance of the software is running? So if I want to map my controller to work with another plugin or with my DAW...I have to have it hosted in the DAW?

This wouldn't work as an editor and store it as a preset in the eeprom? It would default?

It has a controller editor that stores the config not much unlike the MPK mini or the MPD's vyzex editor

yes, it will only work when the software is running, and the control scenes get saved with the project. No control scene storage in the hardware itself.

Man, I'm so excited I can hardly type. But no JAH, Maschine's controller mode is not and does not require a separate app. As long as the Maschine controller is connected via MIDI (audio/ MIDI setup on Mac), the DAW or plugin sees it as it would see another dedicated controller, MPK49, MPD, etc... In order to put it into controller mode while the software is running, you must press both the shift and control buttons simultaneously.

Thank you both Pete and JAH. You guys just made my day. I'm sure there will be a few issues to work out with this monumental implementation of MIDI recording and controller mode but hey, this is huge for me.
MPC Renaissance + Multi-Timbral (Ren MIDI recording into DAW) + MIDI controller mode = I'm GOOD!!!

Why not use the MPC Software 1.4 and up to work with the Element. Instead of a whole new software. Doesn't it make more sense and cheaper to not have two different softwares to maintain.... Im sure that the element would sell way more units if it did... I would buy a element if it did!.... $150 to $200 for a element that runs mpc software sounds way better to me!

I discussed Maschine because the comparison of this specific feature is inevitable. I am 200% sure there will be one or more guys here that will say, xyz does this in MIDI Control Mode….why can’t the Ren/Studio/Element have xyz?
