You couldn't look on the outside of the mpc to see what it is or is that not your pic? Even if not, on the 2kxl you can tell it's the scsi cable just by it's location.

Reader would have to connect to a motherboard somewhere, I dont see a connection like that in the pic.

That is an external SCSI CDROM case.

You will need a SCSI to IDE/ATAPI bridge, such as the Acard AEC-7720U, to convert the internal SCSI connection to an IDE/ATAPI connection.

If your card reader is a passive IDE-CF adapter, then it will be non-hotswap, if the card reader is has active ATAPI circuitry, then it might be hotswap, depending on the make/model of card reader, memory card, SCSI-IDE bridge, and MPC.

You might also have to deal with splitting the internal power cable, if both the card reader and SCSI-IDE bridge need power, along with mounting the card reader within the case, maybe with a 3.5 inch chassis, along with a 3.5 inch to 5.25 inch adapter, maybe extending the internal SCSI and power cables if you want front panel access, etc.

You can probably find SCSI bridges cheaper than that, but might be second hand.

Is this for your MPC2000?

If for your MPC2000XL, internal IDE/ATAPI might be cheaper.

Another option for your external case might be a native SCSI card reader, but might not be easy to find.
