Great routine. :smoker:

You've got machine-like timing.

i just wanted to say again, this routine is so dope, you should really make a full song out of this! last night i was scouring the internet trying to find the sample, and i found it on youtube, but have been trying to find a higher quality one, did you record yours from the game, or did you youtube it?

I never sample from YT, but had been searching this one for a long time too, but found something else fam. You can use Tracker (sth like FL for 8 bits ;) ) if you like sampling old games.
This sample is used only for the live routine, but I've recently made a full track used 8 bit sounds (not from the game though).
You can check it if you wish:

dude, that track is **** badass! you should make an 8 bit hip hop album! i was thinking about doing that at one point too, maybe we should start a forum 8 bit tape! that would be dope! i bet some other members (im looking at you debauch) would be down too!

are you saying you used a tracker to do it? i have been experimenting with this tracker called nitrotracker on my nintendo ds, but actually had given up the idea because a DAW is pretty much the same thing, and it lacks some features that i would like to use. although i just found out that milky tracker is mac compatible, so maybe i will have to check that out again.

which tracker did you use to make that? im really feeling the bit crushed vocals too, did you record them in then crush them? or was that part of the sample too?

chip tune shit is so dope, have you heard of lsdj?

Check Fami Tracker I'm using it on Windows (there are a lot of tutorials on the Internet) :)
Actually this track meant to be the single for the '8bit cassette' album (that's why the price is low) but I could take part in a forum project if such one starts.

This track was made in the tracker but not by me - this one is sampled. Although I use trackers for 8bit sounds. I also don't use any other DAWs, I'm working only on MPC 2500 and other hardware stuff.

yeah it would be a dope forum project... but hard to put together something that specific. Also wouldn't wanna bite the sp forums project series related to video game flipping.... they must have at least 3 of those tapes.

I do like the idea though.

yeah famitracker gets you the sound, because it's a digital version of the same synth used on the NES... but im more of a sampling the real hardware type of guy, or getting a recording of the real hardware.

We could try to make such a project just for fun not to compete with the guys from sp forums. Have to check these projects though because I didn't know about it :)

That would be great, but I don't have Atari and didn't want to spend money to buy it for just a one project. But recently got Gameboy so will be sampling as I like the most - of the real hardware :)

we could even get those guys at sp forums in on it, if they were down. ive posted on there a little bit, and i know ill green does too.

i was thinking as long as you have an 8 bit main sample, or 8 bit sounding main melody(s), then you could add your own kind of bass or drums under it; but i think for the most part it the melodies should all be 8 bit, or do you guys think it would be cool to use 8bit or/and 16 bit stuff?

yeah 16 bit too... because the bits are less of a factor on the audio side... it has more to do with the synth built into the console and the audio chip it has... none of them have audio files stored on board with the exception of actual samples such as voice clips.
