Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Anyone successfully used or using a ATA 133 hard drive internally with their 4k?
I recently tried several but none would work.
I could get hem to go through the format process but they would still say unknown.
Tried various sizes 40g, 60g, 80g, and a 160g but they all did the same thing.

The common factor being the 133, so was trying to see if anyone was using them or if I should just forget it.

I don't think there's really much point in trying to get an ATA133 drive to work anyways, because the MPC4000 motherboard is probably only ATA66 (ATA100 was standardized in 2002, so it might possibly be ATA100...)

ATA133 didn't get invented until 2005.

So, no matter how fast your drive, the MPC4000 motherboard can't read the data any faster than ATA66 (or ATA100, whichever it is).

That's the perspective I had but I have tons of unused 133's and was trying to see if they would work internally.
They work fine in the various USB cases just not internally.
It wasn't that I was trying to get a performance bump just originally going to drop a 160g in the 4k.

The reason I agree that the 4k is probably 66 is because when I install drives of the same size but different bus speeds the 66 goes from Main to Load screen much faster than the 100.

Yep - and also, remember that the maximum volume size the MPC4000 can address is 127GB
