Hi,

I have named my tracks on the MPC Software and it displays on my MPC Studio.

But I want to be able to name my tracks on the unit.

How can I do that?

Thanks

i'm not sure if you can do that from the hardware. if there's a way i'd like to know as well even though it's way easier to do from the software. unlike the older mpc's, the studio/ren doesn't have the 2 letters per each pad.

I came form hardware, (still have my 5k 'for now') and I actually like the speed to clicking in software and typing on the laptop keyboard, along with the long filenames and such for naming and renaming various things.

I also was trying to find a way to do it on the hardware but opted for the quick click and type on keyboard thats right beside my Studio...

Less time tapping the same key to scroll thru multiple letters, more time tapping on pads and layering sounds. JMHO tho

pspsounds wrote::hmmm: I really don't get why people want to name from the hardware instead of the quicker way from the keyboard. But I agree it should be an option.

As an old hardware guy, this is what I was saying. I understand many of us were used to doing it that way but there is a faster way now.

If I wanna do everything on hardware only, I will pull out my hardware MPC....

sometimes you dont have space for a keyboard on the desk , or you want to just move quickly along... most people who name stuff from hardware dont use crazy names, more like D1, D2, V1, V2 etc.. so it actually ends up being quicker than using a keyboard. i understand its not like this for everyone, but i have easy access to my mpc, my microkorg, sp404, turntable, and midi keyboard (i have a small desk) and have to use a battery powered wireless keyboard that i move around..when im making beats i HATE having to use it (same goes for the mouse.. but ive made a little space on my desk for that.. ill get a bigger desk eventually though, just wanted to point out an example of why naming/renaming could be beneficial from the hardware

same with the godddamn editzones "all, current, multiple" and the fact that you have to use a mouse :fku: :-D

with all that said - i do like using the mouse for loading files, browsing breaks, loading vsts, etc.. but use the q links to tweak parameters most of the time

No, 90 percent or something what you can do on the software you can on the hardware.
Some essential stuf is indeed missing

While I would like 100% control of the MPC Software from the controller (to date there is no software on this planet that has a controller that can accomplish this fete), it is much faster typing in a name on a keyboard then using a data dial to do the same.

It would be dope to engage the numeric button and then typing from the pads as if you were typing in an old mobile phone...you know 1 time for the 1, 2 times for A, 3 Times for B...in pad numbered 1 in green...think you get the idea...
