Please Help About The Mpc Renaissance

Recently my mpc 2500 doesn't work anymore, so I"m looking at buying the mpc renaissance

The problem I had is how do save samples on the mpc renaissance? It doesn"t have any slots for these gig cards, so what do you do?

The back of it has usb slots, could I say attach maxtor 90 gig to the back of it , and load in samples that way, and save everything on it.

Please Help

dude... the renaissance isn't a hardware sampler... it's nothing without being hooked up to a computer. nothing.


just get your 2500 repaired instead.

You haven't even done any homework on this thing you wanna spend
ALOT of money on. Tsk, tsk. Samples are saved on computer, Ren doesn't and never will hold samples internally. It's a controller. Has no life of its own without a computer and Ren software on that computer.

Ur right, samples come from the computer, not the Ren itself.

you can't do JACK SH!T without a computer. it's nothing without being connected to a computer running it's software.

again... just fix your 2500.

As the other 2 gents stated, U can only use ther Ren/Studio as controllers for the MPC software. All of the processing, sampling, storage, etc... is done inside the computer.

So when you sample into it, ur really sampling into ur PC ram, until you save, and its transferred over to ur computer's harddrive, flash disk, external drive, etc...

You mentioned usb ports. U can connect enternal drive and your computer will mount the removable media, which the Ren/Studio will see and be able to load from and save to.

(I have a 3TB USB3 drive attached to my laptop, where I save everything from my MPCsoftware as well as store files, samples, and other things.) Then being backed up off to network storage share

If you dont have the hardware connected to the PC, nothing will even come up on the screen other than the words MPC

Wow, and there's a dude at the Getting Started forum who says the MPC1000 needs a computer to function, now this.

Not true. It makes a good replacement for phonebooks when you don't have enough books to create a last minute makeshift booster chair for when nephews or nieces or dwarves come over. Akai should list that as a feature.

As already pointed out, the MPC Ren is a dedicated controller for your MPC Software that runs on a PC or Mac.

Why I would get the MPC 2500 fixed, I would still advise to get the MPC Ren/Studio. Using them with a lap top is just as portable as a hardware MPC.

You can connect a USB memory stick or hard drive directly to the Ren as well as your computer. The MPC Software treats them all the same.
