mpc 2000 xl vs mpc studio & mpc renaissance

I use the old legendary mpc 2000 xl and i want to be able to have more versatility with my imac. How does ,my old beast compare to the new kids on the block(mpc studio and ren)? Any info is greatly appreciated,peace n blessings

if you midi up your xl to a daw, and use it for its sequencer but use software samplers / synths, you are going to be sitting in a really good spot. plus you'll have stability + compatibility which is something the ren/studio do not provide at this point.

this is for the 4k but the same concepts apply viewtopic.php?f=11&t=97274 :mrgreen:

basically, you use the sequencer of the xl but your computer as a soundsource.
you can then record the sequencer live into your daw and edit as you want.

kind of a best of both worlds scenario.

Wow thanks man, i have logic pro but i will need to buy a midi/usb cable to do this i would imagine...

I do have the 8 outs expansion and also a 10 chan behringer which should work nicely when hooked into my daw thru audio in on imac.Still very interested in using mpc w/logicpro though

Don't know if the behringer can be hooked up with the iMac through usb or firewire, otherwise it maybe a good idea to get a nice interface or mixer which allow you to multitrack straight into logic.

Anyway, when you connect the MPC and Logic thru midi and have the ability to record and monitor multiple tracks into Logic you can easily use those pieces of gear in tandem having Logic hosting your VST's and AU's. Sequence everything with the MPC, use Logic's mixer and flexibility.

Did you see the usb/midi cable i posted link of? I think that would work nicely with the imac/logic and mpc. Without having to buy anymore mixers n multitrack hardware.

sorry, after re-reading I'm kind of confused on what you want to be able to accomplish? do you wish to be able to mix in logic every individual track from your mpc? or use it as a midi controller?

I want to control sounds from logic pro and my external hd with the mpc. I can use 8 outs on mpc along with behringer to mixdown tracks from mpc to daw.
