Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I want to take this thing live and need to have a selection of 'songs' loaded up in the Ren that I can switch between throughout the performance.

Is it possible to have more than one 'song' loaded up in the Ren?

Then switch between them whenever you want?

Also, is it possible to switch multiple programs? (This one isn't essential just something that came to mind while typing and that would come in very handy)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Peace

You can load up to 32 Songs. And you can switch up programs as you see fit.

But....If I was doing something live where I need whole songs...I would convert songs to a single sequences instead. There will be less chances that you mess up the way a Song sounds...and you can use Next Sequence Mode.

Jah, is there anywhere that shows how to load multiple songs online? I haven't come across it in the manuals or books I have for the Ren.

Everytime I load up a 'song' (All sequences and songs in the project folder) it just overwrites everything that is currently uploaded.

I know I'm missing some simple trick somewhere...

:Sigh:

I am at work so don't have my software open but like adding a track or sequence, is there a 'drop down' list for 'song', where you can change to next song, used or unused.

There is a drop down list but it doesn't give you an option to load songs from other saved songs or anything like that. Not sure how the idea of 32 songs was intended to be used on this MPC. Maybe 32 versions of the same song?

JAH had a very good idea of converting each song into one long sequence, which is something I've been doing recently. I could have the songs I'm going to do live loaded up (sequences, programs, samples,etc..) and sequence using the next sequence mode.

When each song is playing I could use a combination of track & pad mutes & next sequence (as each song can have a variety of sequences for certain sections) to 'play live'

If a certain section is going down well with the crowd then the 'hold' option can be used to loop that section indefinitely while I perform track/pad mutes and live edits.

This is me thinking out loud but I hope it seems a bit clearer on how I intend to use the MPC Ren for live shows and, to some extent, within the studio.

Can you explain how loading 32 songs is done JAH?

As you have discovered, when you create songs, they are saved within your project. You can create up to 32 songs. You can not save individual songs unless you are saving them within individual projects.

When you load a Song file from a project folder, it replaces all songs in memory.

It would be great if you could load a song from another project and not lose what's in the memory. That would mean I could consolidate my live setup by about 3 kilograms and 500 euros:)
