Why so much deleting???
Here's a trick I've been using lately to get a bit more life into my mixes... Mic them up! If you lay out your MPC tracks so you are happy with the levels, panning and so on, then stick a stereo mic (works OK mono too) configuration in front of your speakers (Mid and side works well) and hit play and record.
You'll get so much air into your programming that you won't know what hit you, and the live feel is awsome. It also works fantastic on bass - push the speakers until they almost give out, and record that ish - shivers down your spine every time you hear it.
Of course, you can use micing for which ever part of your song you want, not just the whole mix. The quality really depends on your mics and their placement, as well as your room and converters. Think of it like going back to being a recording engineer in the days when nothing was programmed - played and micd up only
If you listen to some of the basement Jaxx stuff, they gotta use these techniques on some of their tracks.
