I talked to Dan and Erik for a while they're real down to earth guys.we went over a few soon to be added features .I mentioned some of my requests.I got the impression that these guys are doing their best to please the users.Im looking forward to future updates

Thanks for the video glad to finally have some info on 1.5.
I wonder how customizable midi controller mode is ? Will we be able to use things like note repeat and 16 levels in midi controller mode in logic pro x?

I'm really interested to know if the note repeat will send in MIDI mode too??
That would solve alot of problems

Too f'ing funny...you were so against this feature, and MIDI controller mode, when mentioned as feature requests.

You were laughing at the thought of anyone wanting to use the software without the controller, and telling everyone that if they wanted an MPD they should have bought an MPD.

Great to see some actual detail on the features, rather than Pete's twitter teasing and Jah's contstant tossing.

It operates as a generic controller for sure. If Dan didn't mention that MPC specific features (Note Repeat, 16 Level, etc) are possible then likely they won't be in 1.5.

For the record, 99.99% of the features mentioned in this forum I do not object to including the MPC Controller Mode. But I do more than just sit at my MPC and computer and come up with feature requests to post in the forum. Until a feature request is actually considered and implemented, I come up with ways to use the product as it is currently designed and share this information.

Recently, forum members were discussing how they couldn't use the MPC Software and Controller to control params in Reaper. It took be a few hours to get acquainted with Reaper but I got the MPC Software to control plugin programs flawlessly and recorded a video to help other forum members. I did this using MIDI Tracks.

You will find using MIDI Tracks and the Controller Mode beneficial depending on how the user intends to use them.

Ok...so my question is ... If i would like to use the REN as a midi controller for other VSTi, do I need to open the MPC software to activate midi mode ???? Or is this only if I would like to change the parameter settings, controller numbers or pad assignments ? ....can you save this settings globally to the hardware ? In NIs controller editor you can save your settings global and you can choose diffenrent templates without to open any another software.... :smoker:

The MPC Ren hardware can be used as a generic MIDI controller as of 1.4 and earlier. You can do this without the MPC Software running. But the MIDI assignments of the pads, buttons, knobs, etc are fixed and can't be edited. I did this back in 1.0 and mapped the controller to Battery 3.

The MIDI Controller Mode new for 1.5 permits you to edit the MIDI events that the pads, buttons, knobs, etc can send. But you must open the software, place it in MIDI Mode, and keep the software open. If you close the software, the MPC Ren hardware reverts back to a generic MIDI controller with fixed MIDI assignments.

In application, you would launch your DAW and insert the MPC Software (or Essentials) into your DAW on an Instrument Track. Then double tap [Song] button or hold down [SHIFT] + [SONG] buttons to enter MIDI Controller Mode. You can then use your plugin instruments MIDI learn function to map its params to the MPC Ren controller. Each pad, button, or knob can be set to a MIDI CH number.

Ok so as far as note repeat to midi mode work around, would this work?....

record a 1 track sequence in esssentials with note repeat, turn on midi mode inside that instance, arm your logic track to receive the already recorded midi data from essentials..... now that note repeat data thats in a logic track is triggering the essentials plug in?
