OK, here we go. First of all, my 60 has the old OS...I'm not lucky enough to have 3.xx.
Setting up Reason in Protools: Run the midi in1 and midi out1 or which ever ports you have available into the corresponding ports on your Digidesign hardware. Run Protools and create an Aux track and an Audio Track(stereo or mono, your choice). On the Aux track select no input and output bus5-6 or whichever you have available. Then, create an Audio track..input bus5-6 and output your main output channels. Run reason as a plugin on the Aux track. When you load Reason it will give you a message stating that the midi channels are being occupied by another source....No problem.
Setting up the 60 to control reason as a sound module: Goto to the midi menu on the 60 and select 2)External drum triggering. In that menu you will see Assign Outgoing drums to notes. Change Midi drum data sent out to Notes/Mix/Tune. At the the bottom you can assign the midi channel...mine is on 1. Then open an instrument in Reason such as the synth and a mixer. Switch back to Protools and goto Setups, Preferences, Midi. At the bottom of that menu you will see "Default Thru Instrument". Find the instrument you are trying to use in Reason and it should now be controlled with your 60. You can then use the 60 to control Reason and use the 60 to sequence whatever instrument you are using in Reason.
Recording: Make sure you set the 60 to sync in from Protools. That way your sequences you made with reason and the 60 will start when you hit record on Protools. Also, make sure the Protools BPM is set at the same BPM as the sequence on the 60....Don't worry about the BPM on Reason, it's automatically controlled from Protools when running through Rewire.
Good luck if you try it...it's not as hard as it sounds..I figured it out in a few hours and I'm a rookie with the 60 and midi functions in general.
