Any of u guys compared the mpc3000 to the s3000 soundwise?

anyone done a comparison of these 2 side by side?

What do you want to compare about them ?
The feature sets are quite different.

The other one's a sequencer with sampler capabilities and the other one's a sampler.

sound wise they are meant to be very similar.

s3000, so sequecer, but its a fully featured sampler.

MPC3000, great sequencer, less deep as a sampler.

pretty sure the S3000 has balanced XLR outs, nice feature!

MPC60+S3000 or ASQ10+S3000 is kinda a budget alternative to the MPC3000 (but with all the extra features you've get from the S3000 rack).

but then again, if I was going to use one device as a seq, and another as a stand alone sampler - then that stand alone sampler would be the ASR10 rack over the S3000 rack.

MPC60+ASR-10 combo, now thats ill.

Just comparing the samplers, they samplers have different envelopes,filters,fx,key mapping features and a few other differences.

I love the sound of my S1000. More crispy crunch and with high-end that is maintained when transposing compared to the MPC3000. Love it to bits. Not as quick to use as the S950 or MPC3000 though, and it's filter is naff.

Also, wish the MPC3000 had looping! Damn I couldn't believe it when I found out that the MPC3000 didn't have looping. I was like "say wha?!'.

I'm actually faster with my s1000 than with my 950. I go about samplig a lot faster. But then again i didn't spend too much time with my 950.

I guess i have too many samplers

About the s3000. I'm sure it sounds great

It works a bit differently sampling everything in the s3000 and trigger from the mpc

Step edit won't allow filter setting, tunning or adjusting attack, decay.

Certainly there are workarounds for this. I quite like the s series samplers

Every MPC variant sounds different from their rack engine they are based on because they lack the additional features, except the 4k.

In theory you should be able to get a rack to sound like the MP it's sharing the engine with by using fewer functions but you can't disconnect the features to properly accomplish this.

As was mentioned they will be similar to a degree but not the same.

Also don't forget that the sequencer interacts with the editing on the MPC3k and does effect the way the samples play.

I would say to the OP if you can get a cheap Akai rack try it out see if you like the sound and workflow.
If you don't then you know it's time to go with a MPC3k.

I belive s3000 and mpc 3k has the same sampling engine and filters. I have s3k and i have to say it has definately kind of sound I was looking for - a little bit colours sound and adds high crisp. What is more sound of the lpf makes bass sound reealy fat, if you add time stretching you got deep, punchy bass. One thing that s3k lacks is no midi control of filter so if you want to have filtered samples like jay dee you have to buy mpc. Thats all.

is the CD3000i the same sampling engine as the s3000 or s3000xl?
