MPC NOOB, PLEASE HELP.

I've just purchased an mpc 1000, wondering if I can update the OS through the USB chord or if i need to purchase a compact flash reader to transfer the file from my laptop to the device. Also, when i use the USB chord, is the device supposed to show up on my computer as a folder or something? because nothing happens...

it shows up if you have CF card or hard disk (separate installation) connected to the mpc and you mount them via LOAD menu.

U have to have either HD or CF card for the PC to see and mount as USB. They appear the same as when u insert a USB stick... Removable media

As MTC stated, you have to go to mode > disk > usb > mount

Just connecting the MPC without one or both will do nothing on the PC.
