Note that not being able to use the software without the controller was the #1 complaint before the Ren/Studio hit the streets.

I commend Akai on their continued support of the Mpc software.
In all my years as a avid Mpc user I've never seen this amount of dedication toward a Mpc product.
We get updates every 3-4 months!!! When we ask for something Akai listens and adds it!...WOW!!
Believe me the coming update (after 1.5) will be even better! trust that!
We can troll and complain but something positive has to be given to Akai for their commitment to please its user base and clean up pass transgressions and rebrand itself as a company people can trust again....
Akai has changed alot of our lives here (in this forum and around the world)for the better(imagine your life if the mpc were never invented,honestly)....
because of that ,cant we give them a chance to reclaim our admiration and respect....even just for a little while..

I haven't been using my Ren lately, been working on other hardware but I keep an eye on updates.

Still hopeful that we'll see FX plugin automation one of these updates soon. I'll probably start using it again at that point until then....

I agree, by now they should have added about every top feature request there is. They've had all summer to work on 1.5, and I think a year now has gone by and some really important features are not there. If you would have witnessed this or shared the same experience, you would know how impossible it is to achieve over night, over a month, or over a Summer how to implement new features or make changes to existing ones.

No disrespect, but have you guys actually used a Version 1.x of a software program? Visit the forums, if applicable, of those products. You will find comments exactly like the ones that are here.

I wasn't happy with my Renaissance experience, and so it was sold and I stuck with my 2500. I'm still not happy with some of the claims and misinformation Dan and Andy Mac made in some of the initial videos (IE the true nature of vintage mode), but I can acknowledge that they do seem to be trying to meet the demands that we have made on here regarding features and updates. I give Pete Blues major props for making himself available to everybody on this forum and Twitter, and he really does seem to be working hard to make these products worth buying and using. With all that said, I will probably give Akai another chance and buy a Studio once 1.5 drops and I can see what bugs were fixed and how stable it is. The ability to use the software without the controller was my number 1 request in the poll, so I am excited about possibly using these products again.

DJ Illustrious- You definitely owe it to yourself to try out the latest incarnate of the software. It has evolved and there are a lot of work arounds for most situations and demands you may place on the Ren/Studio.

I bought it with 2 intentions:

1) To use as my main piece of equipment for my live shows

2) As a means of making beats with a different feel to what I could get from a DAW and constructed far quicker.

3) As a new source of inspiration

It completely excels on points 2 & 3 and it falls down slightly on point 1 (I will need another sampler to take care of the gaps where I will need to load up a new song/project into the MPC Ren)

There's something about the support that Akai are giving the MPC which indicates to me they see a very long future in the product (much like NI do with Maschine or Arturia with Spark) and know that they have an excellent controller and good software that will grow to meet 'most' users needs and much, much more.

I won't say it's the best MPC ever because it's the only one I've used but I like my Ren, I'd go as fay as to say it's my fav piece of equipment in my studio (other than me of course) and I'm able to knock up full tunes very quickly and easily sampling from and through quite a range of options.

Try it again, preferably with someone who knows what they're doing, and see what you think. You just might be pleasantly surprised

P.S. The prices are about to drop, if not already, which may also sway your opinion?

If possible, I would go with the Ren vs the Studio. An entire completely different feel. Personally, I think Akai should have went with a miniature version of the MPC Ren...like an MPC 1000 sized controller.
