Apparently the upgrade will cost 99€ for the mkI-II. It will be hard not to get this piece of kit tho. Looks very nice. Still not Fan of the brushed plates look but hey..

Yeah, I have a 1604 and a Focusrite 18i6. Trying to figure out where I'm going next because I prefer the hands on. It's either an Onyx or a dedicated recorder.

You're absolutely right. But my question has always been how are you gonna expect to compete in a software driven market yet only hire a handful (or less) of software engineers? The phrase penny wise pound foolish comes to mind.

The real embarrassment is going to come when the Ren is on the display floor alongside the Maschine Studio. Now that going to be embarrassing. It'll be like comparing a Motorola brickphone next to Galaxy S4.

Good point. I prefer using "hardware" as opposed to DAWs (just because I have hard time figuring out how to use them!), so I went to old trusty MPC-2000XL, and being hobbyist, I like standalone machine that cannot browse websites!

I hoped to see more head-to-head competition between Maschine and MPC Ren, because it is good for consumers to have them competing each other.
I've never used Maschine, but I like how they advertise Maschine. It is more about how to use it, rather than just showing famous people endorsing their product. If I'm on the market, I'd pick Maschine over MPC Ren.

To me, MPC Ren's controller does not look great (it is important factor to me! I don't want to work on ugly console!) I've heard that Maschine's controller looks a bit cheap in person, but at least I can dig the design, but MPC Ran, umm, not so much...

I hope Akai Pro take more humble approach (less hype, more product updates and improvement.)

In the future, I hope that Maschine (and MPC Ren as well) will be standalone unit that does not require to have host PC / Mac, like Roland SP-606 concept.

exactly. he'll be back trying to drill holes in the product... trying to find stuff it can't do that mpcs can (things we know he doesn't actually use, but will claim are the essentials keeping him behind the mpc line).

Dude says in one thread he doesn't care what product people use... but then acts like a salesman in every other thread... dude went so far as to insult roger linn just to try and sell the ren to the forum. **** that guy, reading the ren section sucks when every third post in every thread is his.

this new maschine studio does look slick though... gotta say, this looks dope.

If Maschine is good and brings new features everyone wants, it forces Akai to make a better MPC Software.

I'm pretty happy the Maschine is getting better even if i'll not trade my Ren for this.

I've kinda wanted to check out the Ren (never replacing the mpc3000) but just as something to quickly get some ideas down on. But i wont lie that maschine studio is eye candy.

I am curious to know how many of you actually even own a current Maschine?

I own the original Maschine and I can tell you this...
Its a dope piece of gear and I love it but I must say its not for everyone.
The workflow is very different than an MPC.
