Rap doesn't use the bridge that much (which usually involves chord changes) but an example of a kind of bridge is Jay-z's Dirt Off Your Shoulder where the bassline comes in every time a couple (4 or 8?) measures before the hook.

Yeah - I like what someone said about using the bridge in another place in the song too... what would be called a middle 8 in old songwriting, although it doesn't have to be 8 bars of course. Today, breakdown is probably a better known term for it.

For classic songwriting, have a luisten to song old Police stuff - they use loads of tricks to get their point across - different chords in each verse, bridges, mid 8s, melodic hooks, rythmical hooks. A whole world of schooling is out there...
