Sounds like they're still lacking the old MPC staple - Step Edit. Dragging notes around with a mouse gets tedious.

Did they ever implement a note length quantize?

Nah, no not length quantize yet, which will be highly welcome. But I prefer dragging note duration with a mouse over step edit because you can do more than one at a time, and you can actually see the notes instead of just the time stamp!

I have to agree. Even coming from hardware, I like to do somethings in software that I didn't know if I would (before trying to do so)

Sometime you have to give new things a shot before saying "I don't like it cause it's not what i am used to"

I have friends that say, "I want it to be exactly like I can on my hardware". I reply, "Then do it on your hardware and save yourself the purchase, but don't tell me not to like doing some things a little differently"

"It doesn't make either of us right or wrong, it just makes us different"

Step edit is horrible in the Ren. You have to have TC on to use it, and then from the controller you have to scroll through and tell it which sample you want to step edit, unlike the old MPC's where if you hit pad 3, the note/sample on pad 3 triggers, now if you hit pad three and didn't scroll to pad 3's sample then whatever pad you have the scroll set on will trigger but nudged, because the pads are like steps, and not samples....

Importing audio from CDs has been added. Not sure if this is new to 1.5 or 1.4 but not in the release notes nor manual anywhere.

As far as Step Edit found in hardware MPCs and Step Sequence found in the MPC Software...these are not the same. One is a MIDI Event List Editor and the other is an X0X type vintage drum machine sequencer.

Can't believe nobody noticed this.

Before when you went to load up a second program, let's say a vst, you would accidentally change the first program. Eventually we realized this and made sure we setup the 2nd program properly before procedding.

Now you can just go ahead and load up any vst on your 2nd program and it won't alter the first you will receive a warning which asks if you wish to create a new program.

Brilliant! So if you forget to fully setup your 2nd program you don't lose all your hardwork on your 1st program.

U get me?
